About the Event
A Â training program for those involved in alcohol licensing and hearings, such as Licensing Inspectors, Police Alcohol Harm Prevention Officers, Medical Officers of Health - their delegates and other licensing staff.
This comprehensive training delves into the critical provisions of the Sale and Supply of Alcohol (Community Participation) Amendment Act 2023, making it an invaluable resource for both newcomers to licensing and seasoned professionals seeking to fortify and refresh their understanding of alcohol licensing matters. Â Â Leading these sessions is Karyn South from the Crown Solicitor's Office in Christchurch. Â With extensive national-level involvement in alcohol licensing and a wealth of experience as a litigator, Karyn brings invaluable expertise to the table. Her notable contributions include pivotal roles in recent case law developments, such as Two Brothers and Nekita, reflecting her deep understanding of the field.
Here's what you can expect to gain from this programme:
- Insight into the impacts of alcohol-related harm within communities.
- Clarification on the roles and responsibilities of other pivotal agencies, including district licensing committees and ARLA.
- Practical guidance on managing considerations pertinent to tri-agencies.
- An exploration of all aspects of hearings, from handling evidence and submissions to establishing conditions.
The training sessions will be delivered online via Zoom - 3 x two-hour sessions. You are only required to register once for a program. If you cannot attend all sessions within one program, we encourage you to register for both and attend all sessions across both programs.
You will receive timely reminders and login details prior to the commencement of the program.
These workshops are free to attend, thanks to funding provided by Health Promotion - Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora.
